The Principal Investigator for the AfroGAIN Project, Dr. Thompson Kwarkye, recently presented at the Lero Software Ireland Annual Meeting held in Limerick, Ireland.
Delivering a talk titled “AI Governance in the Global Context: Perspectives from Africa”, Dr. Kwarkye highlighted the unique opportunities and challenges of artificial intelligence governance across the African continent. His presentation underscored AfroGAIN’s mission to contribute African voices, insights, and frameworks to the global discourse on responsible AI.
The session sparked meaningful discussions on how global AI governance frameworks can become more inclusive by integrating diverse perspectives—especially those from the Global South.
As AfroGAIN continues to advance its research and collaborations, engagements such as this reaffirm the importance of cross-continental dialogue in shaping AI policies that are equitable, context-sensitive, and globally representative.
